Filming A Pass Through Shot

\"bow The hunter is under the red arrow on the left. The arrow is exiting the vitals.

At least 25 years ago we did not have cable TV.  There was no Buckmasters TV and definitely no Outdoor Channel or Sportsman Channel.  Hunting videos came on VHS tapes and not from YouTube.

Back in the day, Dan Fitzgerald put out some really great hunting videos.  They were not killing 200 inch deer but they were very entertaining.  One hunt involved Dan and the camera being separated while stalking a deer.  Eventually the deer came between Dan and the camera.  I still remember seeing the arrow exit the deer!

Pass through shots are common place in bow hunting.  But filming and capturing the pass through exit is not an easy task.  My goal for 2013 is to successfully film a pass through exit.

The hunter in this bow hunting video was able to set up a camera on a tripod and then setup opposite the camera in a natural ground blind.  If you look closely you will realize the deer is between the hunter and the camera.  A really cool camera angle!
