Guys! I have to admit that it feels like Christmas in July. My new Canon HF G10 arrived today. For a couple of years I have been borrowing camcorders and I finally bit the bullet so to speak.

The camcorder is not really new. I have been lusting after this camera for 2 years but the $1200 price tag kept me at arms reach. Well as bow season in NC gets closer I started shopping for hunting gear again.

Used Canon HF G10 were selling on eBay for $900. This was still too much money. Then with a stroke of luck I just stumbled across the Canon Factory refurbished site. This model was not listed anywhere. I just got lucky.

My Canon HF G10 refurbished deer hunting camera was only $500!!

The price is really a blessing because I still need to buy a camera arm, shotgun mic, Varizoom controller and a camera bag.

I spent the afternoon reading the manual and searching the web looking for tips on self filming deer hunts.

My first are impressions are this is a great camera.  My second impression is man I have a lot to learn.  I self filmed

three successful hunts last year and it a blast.  It provides and all new level of enjoyment that I didn\’t realize possible.  Deer hunting is great but being able to record the hunt to share with friend is incredible.

I am working on some how to articles right now that will hopefully give folks the push to give self filming or filming a friend a try.
